French oh French oh....French?

Ok so this week I have a 5 page paper for French that I need to get written and then graded a couple of times by the French Writing Lab. I'm ok with that since it is a personal story about how me and Alicia became friends. In fact it is quite hilarious and I get to make Alicia and I sound like silly little Junior High girls. I however woke up at 6 this morning so I could make it to school before 8 to get to my appointment at the French Writing Lab. I got there and had my paper corrected for a total of 4 minutes......7:58 to 8:02! I woke up really early for nothing basically. Most people in class didn't even get theirs graded so I was one of the random people. I however did irregularly well. I made friends with this boy in my class that adopted the name Tommy, his real name is too difficult for Americans to say. He is from a small island off the coast of Madagascar....relatively close to the island La Reunion. He was really cool to talk to (yes he's married so no dating him). He gave me information about the different natural disasters and how the church is handling them since he works at the information desk at the MTC. He served his mission in Haiti in 2005. I asked him if he knew anyone that died in the recent earthquake in Port-au-Prince and he said that he lost 2 or 3 companions and almost all of his converts. Pretty sad but he is glad that most all of them were able to be sealed in the temple to their families, he knows that they lived a good life and that they aren't just dead but they have been reunited with their Heavenly Father. That was my cool spiritual moment of the day, I quite enjoyed it.

My Favorite Things

Ok so I remembered about my blog today and decided that it was about time to post another.....post. So after the 15 minutes it took me to figure out how to post I got to the edit page and couldn't figure out what I wanted to write about. So I am going to write about my favorite things which yes they include all of the things from the song, especially strudel. There is a lot and I will sound like a Humanities nerd....I don't care.

1. I love my family. When I was younger I thought we were all extremely boring and a bit nerdy. Although one of those is still true (but which one???) I adore them, they are all hilarious and have their own unique personalities.
My dad is a tall guy and very intimidating since he comes off stern and serious. I call him Fajah and he expects to be called that when I talk to him, I also like saying his name really weird when I'm trying to get his attention, ".....ALLEN!" I have learned though that he is just a big teddy bear and has the corniest jokes in the world. Since I was about....not even two I've been rolling my eyes at him (we have video proof if you want to see). My favorite thing about him that I have inherited (kinda) is his sense of responsibility and just going out and doing what needs to be done.
Then my mom/Queen Mum/Mamacita is a cute tiny lady who has the funniest laugh. It is never the same and it causes her to laugh even more to the point of tears. She is very sarcastic but in a nice way, she drums her thumbs on the steering wheel while she drives, and bounces/dances while she walks. I have definitely taken on her personality which I love, especially bouncing around everywhere, it's wonderful!
There's my brother Jeff (Chef) who is ridiculously smart. I don't get to see him as much as I would like to but when we do get together we have the most random/serious conversations about philosophy/politics/music/movie/art/clothes....really stuff that you would only talk to your teacher about. It's nice though since we're both pretty open to it and already know that we're a bit weird for talking about the stuff we do but it makes it that much more enjoyable.
Lastly there is my sissy Lauren/Loron the Goron/Loron the Moron. Growing up I'm pretty sure we didn't like each other....maybe it was just me but now she is one of my closest friends. When she was living here in Provo we saw each other constantly and would go do random stuff. Now she is in NC and I talk to her just about everyday. We love laughing, driving, dancing in the car and singing at the top of our lungs, and watching Bollywood movies. Yes we are weird but whatevs she's my sissy!

2. Music. You know those cheesy quotes where it says "Music is life."? Well in my case it just about is, I am constantly listening to music and all kinds except country......more just because it's moved away from it's roots and is more of a twangy rock these days. I love listening to hard rock, 90s, oldies, musicals, classic rock, rap, R&B, and opera. I especially love opera. I used to think the same thing as most people with it being a boring and long production but they are actually the most scandalous things in the world. My favorite opera singer is Luciano Pavarotti, if you go on youtube and watch "Nessun Dorma" or "Vespi la Guibba" he shows so much emotion in the way he sings, it really connects you to the character and the feelings of heartache or regret they are going through. My favorite band of all time is the UK band Muse. They mix classical music with rock and poetry. Basically they are amazing, y'all need to check them out.

3. I love good food. Yes that entails fast food but I love different random cultures food. Indian food is especially good, there is just so many flavors and textures. It is absolutely awesome!

4. I love the gospel and how it brings families together. There is just so much love and it brings me closer to my Heavenly Father. I truly am thankful for it being in my life and being able to know that I am a daughter of a loving Heavenly Father who wants me to be happy. I am extremely grateful for temples, I find it so comforting that I can go there and be sealed to my family for all eternity!

Well anyways that sounds like a good spot to stop, hope all of your Saturdays are going well!
